Bentley Continental GT Supersports is a high-performance V8 monster
What's the story
British luxury carmaker Bentley has unveiled the new Continental GT Supersports, a high-performance version of its flagship model. The car is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces an impressive 657hp and 800Nm of torque. It comes with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive, that makes it the only non-hybrid Continental GT in the lineup.
Weight reduction
The lightest Continental GT model
The new Continental GT Supersports is the lightest model in its lineup, weighing just under 2,000kg. This makes it over 454kg lighter than the next-lightest GT Speed variant. The car also features an electronic limited-slip differential to distribute power efficiently to the rear wheels, and has a wider rear track by 16mm for improved stability and handling.
Performance
The car can go from 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds
The Continental GT Supersports comes with three drive modes: Touring, Bentley, and Sport. Each mode adjusts the car's suspension, throttle response, and chassis for different driving experiences. The car can go from 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 308km/h. It also corners 30% quicker than a standard Continental GT Speed with up to 1.3 Gs of peak lateral force.
Design
It gets a new front bumper with an integrated splitter
The Continental GT Supersports features a new front bumper with an integrated splitter, dive planes at each corner for reduced lift, and a rear diffuser. It also has a one-piece, fixed spoiler on the trunk lid that generates 300kg extra downforce than the standard Conti GT. The car rides on specially-designed 22-inch lightweight forged wheels by Manthey Racing for improved performance.
Interior
The interior features highly bolstered bucket seats
The interior of the Continental GT Supersports is a minimalist take on luxury. It has two lightweight, highly bolstered bucket seats positioned low in the vehicle. Customers can choose from various mono-tone, dual-tone, and even tri-tone interior combinations with leather, Dinamica, and carbon fiber accents. However, Bentley has removed the rear seats as part of its weight-saving efforts for this model.
