Tesla's slow start in India's luxury EV race
Tesla's big debut in India hasn't exactly turned heads—since launching the Model EY SUV in September, they've only sold 157 cars.
In November, just 48 Teslas found homes, while BMW and Mercedes-Benz easily outpaced them with 267 and 69 sales respectively.
It's clear Tesla is struggling to stand out against these established rivals.
BMW, Mercedes lead as India's EV scene heats up
BMW and Mercedes-Benz are riding the electric wave, with BMW selling a whopping 910 EVs from September to November—thanks mostly to its iX1 SUV.
Meanwhile, India's overall electric car market is booming, growing by 57% this year and crossing the 150,000 mark.
As charging stations pop up and more models hit the road, premium brands are locking in their spots while homegrown players like Tata Motors push for mainstream adoption.
