Kerala NDA Vice Chairman investor, director at Arnab's venture

Sources said Rajya Sabha member and Kerala NDA vice chairman Rajeev Chandrasekhar has invested over Rs.30 crore in Arnab Goswami's upcoming media venture, Republic. He made the investment through his company Asianet News Online Private Limited, and is also a director at Republic. In addition, SARG Media, in which Arnab Goswami and his wife are directors is the main investor in Republic.

    Arnab Goswami: Early career

Arnab Goswami began his career in The Telegraph in Kolkata. He later joined NDTV in 1995 and by 1998 he had become the news editor, responsible for the overall editorial content of the channel. His Newshour show was the "longest running news analysis shown on any channel (1998-2003)". He also hosted NDTV's successful news analysis show Newsnight.

Goswami becomes the face of the Times Now channel

In 2006, Arnab Goswami became the editor-in-chief and the news anchor of the Times Now news channel. His mouthpiece -the Newshour that aired every night 9 PM was the most-watched show where he interviewed personalities like Pervez Musharraf, Benazir Bhutto, Dalai Lama et al. His catch phrases "India wants to know", "You can't run away from the question" quickly gained popularity.

Arnab ebbs away from traditional journalism: Switches to subjective

Post 26/11, Goswami said that a "journalist couldn't afford to be objective and disjointed" and began to exercise his opinion to bring out change. After 2008, the Newshour discussion started becoming "deafeningly argumentative" where Arnab gave strong rebuttals. His playing to the gallery approach, interference and cutting down guests from talking, invited criticisms and accolades alike.

Arnab becomes bigger than the brand, quits Times Now

Arnab Goswami, the host of the flagship show 'Newshour' on Times Now announced his decision to quit the company. In a meeting with his core team, he said that he "didn't want to get stuck in the television media". He also spoke about his "dream of an independent media" for which he needed to move out of his current role.

Arnab bids adieu to Times Now

On his last News Hour show, Goswami ended by saying: "The game starts now. Don't ever lose your faith in independent media. Nobody can teach us independent media. It has come and I have been able to do it only because of you."

Goswami's venture to be called 'Republic'

Senior journalist Arnab Goswami announced that his new enterprise would be called the 'Republic'. The Republic is expected to go on air before the crucial Uttar Pradesh elections slated to be held in the first quarter of 2017. Goswami was previously the Editor In Chief of the Times Now news channel which he left to start his own venture.
