  • Sources said Rajya Sabha member and Kerala NDA vice chairman Rajeev Chandrasekhar has invested over Rs.30 crore in Arnab Goswami's upcoming media venture, Republic.

    He made the investment through his company Asianet News Online Private Limited, and is also a director at Republic.

    In addition, SARG Media, in which Arnab Goswami and his wife are directors is the main investor in Republic.

  • Arnab Goswami began his career in The Telegraph in Kolkata.

    He later joined NDTV in 1995 and by 1998 he had become the news editor, responsible for the overall editorial content of the channel.

    His Newshour show was the "longest running news analysis shown on any channel (1998-2003)".

    He also hosted NDTV's successful news analysis show Newsnight.

  • In 2006, Arnab Goswami became the editor-in-chief and the news anchor of the Times Now news channel.

    His mouthpiece -the Newshour that aired every night 9 PM was the most-watched show where he interviewed personalities like Pervez Musharraf, Benazir Bhutto, Dalai Lama et al.

    His catch phrases "India wants to know", "You can't run away from the question" quickly gained popularity.

    After 2008, the Newshour discussion started becoming "deafeningly argumentative" where Arnab gave strong rebuttals.

    His playing to the gallery approach, interference and cutting down guests from talking, invited criticisms and accolades alike.

  • Arnab Goswami, the host of the flagship show 'Newshour' on Times Now announced his decision to quit the company.

    In a meeting with his core team, he said that he "didn't want to get stuck in the television media".

    He also spoke about his "dream of an independent media" for which he needed to move out of his current role.

  • Senior journalist Arnab Goswami announced that his new enterprise would be called the 'Republic'.

    The Republic is expected to go on air before the crucial Uttar Pradesh elections slated to be held in the first quarter of 2017.

    Goswami was previously the Editor In Chief of the Times Now news channel which he left to start his own venture.
