What was the "Happy New Year" plan?
Announced few months after the company was launched in September 2016, the Happy New Year Offer gave free data, voice calls, and Jio apps until March 31, 2017. However, many Jio users complained about call drops and speed issues.
What are Jio's near future plans?
Jio network will be present in all the cities, villages and cover 99 percent of the country's population by 2018 end, Ambani said. It was possible because of Aadhar-backed number portability process. He also said Jio will monitor all publicly announced plans by all Indian telecom operators. "(Jio) will not only match those... but provide 20% more data for all those plans," he added.
Jio offers 120GB extra data for Prime users
Jio has started a new 'Buy one get one' offer, that gives Jio Prime members up to 120GB extra data for a nominal price. The users can get extra 1GB, 5GB and 10GB data on recharging for Rs.149 and above before March 31. Recharging for Rs. 499 and above will give users 10GB of free data each month over existing benefits, translating into 120GB.
Jio to launch Prime sequel
Reliance Jio is likely to release new disruptive plans starting from April 1, as its 'Happy New Year' free data plan is set to expire. According to reports, the company will study consumer patterns, and then release appropriately catered tariff plans to maximize their market reach. The roll out of the new tariff plans is set to commence in a few days.
Jio Summer Surprise: Reliance withdraws complimentary benefits after TRAI advisory
Reliance is discontinuing 'Jio Summer Surprise' -three months complimentary benefits- after receiving an advisory from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Jio stated TRAI advised the company to withdraw the complimentary offer and it accepts the telecom regulator's decision. The offer would be discontinued in the next few days. However, customers who have subscribed to the offer before the discontinuation will remain eligible.
