IndiGo's flight cancelations: Moody's warns of potential leadership instability
IndiGo, India's biggest airline, is having a rough patch after canceling thousands of flights because of a pilot shortage linked to new rest rules.
The fallout? Big financial hits and extra costs for the airline, according to Moody's Ratings.
All this turbulence is also putting pressure on IndiGo's top management.
What's going on behind the scenes?
With nearly 3,000 flights scrapped in just one week—including over 1,600 on a single day—IndiGo's usual smooth operations have taken a hit.
Their on-time performance dropped from 84% in October to just 68% in November.
Moody's even downgraded their human capital score due to slower hiring of pilots, and warned that profits could take a hit until March 2026.
Plus, things are tense at the top: A show-cause notice has been issued to IndiGo's CEO as it tries to steady itself through all this chaos.
