Articles about Mozilla Firefox

Firefox is a free, open-source Internet web browser developed by the Mozilla Foundation and operated by the Mozilla Corporation, a subsidiary of the non-for-profit foundation. Firefox uses the Gecko rendering engine to display webpages, unlike Google's popular Chrome web browser that is based on Chromium. The Firefox web browser is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 10, macOS, and various Linux distros. Firefox was conceptualized in 2002 by Mozilla community members who desired a standalone browser. During testing, the browser was praised for speed, security, and add-ons compared to the then-dominant Microsoft Internet Explorer. Firefox is also known as the successor of the Netscape Navigator, the name for the Mozilla community created by Netscape in 1998. As of August 2021, Firefox has a 7.62 % usage share among desktop web browsers, making it the fourth -most popular web browser after Chrome, Apple's Safari, and Microsoft Edge. Unofficially, Firefox implementations are also available for UNIX-based operating systems. The web browser can also be downloaded on Android and iOS on mobile.
