Paytm shifts offline merchant business to PPSL: Here's what's up
Paytm just moved its entire offline merchant payment business—think all those QR codes and card machines at your favorite shops—to its own subsidiary, Paytm Payments Services Limited (PPSL).
This switch comes right after the Reserve Bank of India gave the green light.
Starting midnight on November 30, 2025, PPSL will officially run all offline merchant operations.
What changes for merchants?
About 1.4 crore merchants who use Paytm devices are now under PPSL.
The big news? PPSL can finally start signing up new merchants again, ending a freeze that's been in place since late 2022.
The transfer was valued at ₹960 crore and even includes two senior managers making the move to PPSL.
Why does this matter?
This is a big regulatory win for Paytm—it means PPSL is now a licensed Payment Aggregator, which should make payments smoother and open doors for more growth.
All the action from this shift will show up in Paytm's main financials going forward.
