Reliance merges Star Television Productions with JioStar

Reliance just wrapped up merging Star Television Productions (the folks behind the 'STAR' brand) into JioStar, making its media business even bigger.
Announced last November and finalized this week, the move means STAR is now officially part of Jiostar India.

What's new with JioStar?

JioStar itself was born from a major Reliance-Disney India merger in 2024, valued at $8.5 billion.
Since then, they've launched the all-in-one JioHotstar platform—combining JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar—making streaming simpler for everyone.
The merger has paid off too: for the September quarter, JioStar pulled in ₹7,232 crore revenue and ₹1,322 crore profit, cementing its spot as a top player in Indian entertainment.
