Born on May 29, 1958, Annette Carol Bening is a Hollywood actress, known for her performances in several award-winning movies including ‘The Grifters’ (1990), ‘American Beauty’ (1999), ‘Being Julia’ (2004), and ‘The Kids Are All Right’ (2010). After graduating in Theater Arts from San Francisco State University, Bening began her acting career in 1980 with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival company. Subsequently, she also appeared in plays at the San Diego Repertory Theater. Her most remembered stage role was that of Lady Macbeth in the play ‘Shakespeare,’ which was produced by American Conservatory Theater in 1984. Bening made her film debut in 1988 with ‘The Great Outdoors.’ She rose to prominence with the movie ‘The Grifters’ for which she received an Academy Award nomination. Between 1986 and 2020, she has appeared in 48 movies. In 1987, she was nominated for the Tony Award for the Best Featured Actress for her Broadway play ‘Coastal Disturbances.’ Notably, Bening received Academy Awards nominations four times, one Emmy Awards nomination, and two Tony Awards nominations, as of 2021. She is also the recipient of the BAFTA Award for Best Actress, and two Golden Globe Awards. She married American director Warren Beatty in 1992.
