'Believe him': Scarlett Johansson stands by Woody Allen amid allegations
Scarlett Johansson is once again backing filmmaker Woody Allen, who's long faced sexual abuse accusations from his stepdaughter Dylan Farrow.
In a recent chat with The Daily Telegraph, Johansson shared, "My mom always encouraged me to be myself, [to see] that it's important to have integrity, and stand up for what you believe in."
She stated it is "hard to know" what effect her support may have had, but feels it's important to have integrity and stand up for what you believe in.
What's the background?
The allegations against Allen first came up in 1992 and were brought back into the spotlight during the #MeToo movement.
Allen has always denied them, and New York authorities investigated but ultimately dismissed the case.
Johansson's track record
Johansson has starred in several of Allen's films like Match Point and Vicky Cristina Barcelona and remains one of the few big names publicly supporting him.
She hasn't shied away from controversy elsewhere either—recently calling out ChatGPT for using a voice similar to hers, and even suing Disney over Black Widow's streaming release.
