Benjamin John Whishaw is an English film, TV, and theater actor born on October 14, 1980. His lead role in Trevor Nunn's 2004 theater production of 'Hamlet' at the Old Vic earned Whishaw a nomination for the Olivier Award for Best Actor. In 2012, he played the titular role in BBC Two's adaptation of 'Richard II', as part of 'The Hollow Crown' series of the William Shakespeare adaptations, for which he was awarded the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor. For his portrayal of Norman Scott in the miniseries 'A Very English Scandal’ (2018), he won numerous accolades, including the British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actor, the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film, and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. He is also credited for voicing Paddington Bear in the animated ‘Paddington’ franchise. He is a notable alumna of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
