Actor Boman Irani, who recently made his directorial debut with The Mehta Boys, has confirmed that he is already working on his next film. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he said, "I've made a conscious decision after directing a family drama, I'm going to pick a completely different genre." "Just because people liked the first one...I don't think I can stick to the same genre. I want to enjoy different worlds of cinema." Irani will turn 66 on Tuesday.

Interestingly, Irani's son Kayoze also made his directorial debut in 2025 with Sarzameen, starring Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The actor shared their conversations about their new journeys in filmmaking. He said, "Life was never meant to be a bed of roses you can't avoid the hardships. Making a movie is not easy."
Irani's wishlist of actors for future projects
When asked about his wishlist of actors he wants to work with, Irani said, "There are so many fine actors I want to work with. I name three and another three will feel bad." He added that directing Amitabh Bachchan would be a memorable experience. Apart from directing, he is also enjoying teaching aspiring writers in the industry. He is also set to feature in Prabhas's horror-comedy The Raja Saab.
