Irrfan Khan, Kapil Sharma face prosecution for altering property
As part of the investigations into BMC's claims that Irrfan Khan and Kapil Sharma, along with four others have illegally altered their apartments at DLH Enclave, Oshiwara, proceedings to prosecute the same have been launched. According to an officer from the Oshiwara Police Station, "large-scale violations" were found during the inspections of the apartments.
Who is Kapil Sharma?
Kapil Sharma is a stand-up comedian, television host, actor, producer and one of the most famous Indian TV personalities. He won the 'Great Indian Laughter Challenge' stand-up comedy TV show in 2007. He hosted 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' on Colors TV during Jun'13-Jan'16 before hosting 'The Kapil Sharma Show' on Sony TV. He made his Bollywood debut in Sep'15 with 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon'.
Kapil Sharma's bribery tweet goes viral
Kapil Sharma took to Twitter to vent his anger when a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official asked him for a bribe. The BMC official apparently wanted a Rs.5 lakh bribe from Kapil who was trying to set up his new office that was under construction. He tagged PM Narendra Modi in his tweet and questioned if this was Modi's "Acche Din".

Kapil Sharma tweeted he had been paying Rs.15 crore income tax for the last five years but still he is expected to pay Rs.5 lakh bribe for making his office. He also questioned, "Yeh hain aapke achhe din? @narendramodi"
Maha CM Fadnavis says culprit will not be spared
Sensing the damage, the BMC quickly replied to the actor-comedian, who has over 6.2 million Twitter followers. Vigilance Chief Engineer Manohar Pawar assured Kapil the BMC had taken the issue seriously and asked him for the corrupted official's name. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis told Kapil he had directed the BMC to take the strictest action; he added the culprit will not be spared.
Kapil Sharma is illegally constructing his office, says the BMC
Comedian and Bollywood actor Kapil Sharma alleged that a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official asked him for Rs.5 lakh bribe, following which the BMC addressed the issue. However, the BMC taking a U-turn denied accepting bribes and alleged that Kapil is illegally constructing his office despite a 24-hour notice issued in Jul'16. Sharma is allegedly making his office in violation of construction norms.
Kapil Sharma moves HC over BMC verdict
Comedian Kapil Sharma has moved the Bombay High Court, over the BMC's order to demolish part of his Versova office. The BMC stated that portions of Kapil Sharma's property in Versova were illegal as they violated norms of safeguarding coastal areas from erosion prone development. The row began after Sharma tweeted to PM Modi about bribery demands by BMC officials.
Mangrove destruction: FIR filed against Kapil Sharma
A case has been filed against actor Kapil Sharma under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act and the Environment Protection Act for dumping debris in mangrove forests behind his bungalow in Mumbai. He has also been hauled up for alleged illegal construction in the vicinity of mangroves. Sharma is yet to respond to this latest development.
