Gary Oldman was named Best Actor at the 90th Academy Awards for his performance in 'Darkest Hour'. The actor essayed the role of Winston Churchill in the second world war drama. The other contenders for the trophy included Daniel Kaluuya for 'Get Out', Daniel Day-Lewis for 'Phantom Thread', Timothée Chalamet for 'Call Me By Your Name' and Denzel Washington for 'Roman J. Israel, Esq.'
Best Actress - Frances McDormand for 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri'. Best Picture - 'The Shape of Water'. Best Director - Guillermo del Toro for 'The Shape of Water'. Best Original Screenplay - Jordan Peele for 'Get Out'. Best Adapted Screenplay - James Ivory for 'Call Me by Your Name'. Best Cinematography - Roger Deakins for 'Blade Runner 2049'.
Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk' won big for its technical craft. Lee Smith collected his maiden Oscar for Best Editing for his awe-inspiring work in the World War II epic. The technicians of 'Dunkirk' also walked away with trophies for Sound Editing and Sound Design. The 90th Academy Awards were kicked off by host Jimmy Kimmel at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday.
