Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has spoken candidly about his views on film awards. In a recent podcast with entrepreneur Raj Shamani, he admitted that there is some degree of lobbying involved in the National Awards. He claimed that this practice isn't as rampant as it is with other awards, but still exists. "National Award mein thoda bahut (lobbying) hota hoga." However, he added that the National Award is reputed despite this.

Rawal didn't stop at the Indian awards. He also revealed that even the prestigious Oscars are not immune to lobbying. "Lobbying to Oscar Awards mein bhi hoti hai," he said, explaining how it works. "Haan bhaiya, Raj ki picture hai. Chalo jitne Academy ke jitne members hote hain sabko whip up kiya jaata hai."

Rawal elaborated on this further, saying, "When my director says cut, when my writer says he is happy with my work - that is my award. That's where my drive, urge ends." He added that if a few people he respects also appreciate his work, it's the icing on the cake.

Despite the controversies surrounding awards, Rawal maintains that they are a form of acknowledgment by the film fraternity. However, he believes that true recognition comes from his director and writer. "Award itself is an acknowledgment by the fraternity. But mere liye fraternitykaun represent karta hai? Director," he said. He is currently seen in The Taj Story.
