What's the story

Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi recently paid tribute to his late friend and co-star, Dharmendra. Speaking to NDTV, Bedi reminisced about their last movie together, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. He also shared a heartwarming memory of how the legendary actor made him feel special on set by feeding him cake on his birthday. "All I can say is that he was kind of mad; such actors don't exist now."

Last film

Bedi and Dharmendra's enduring friendship

Bedi recalled their first collaboration in 1987, "He and I were there in key roles. The name was Dadagiri," he said. "Our last film together was Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. It was my birthday on one of the shooting dates of TBMAUJ." Bedi recalled Dharmendra insisting on getting a cake for him. He added, "Then we cut it together. He fed me, and I fed him. It was very sweet of him."

Fond memories

'He used to care for everyone'

Bedi added, "He used to care for everyone; he used to care for the unit." "Aap unke saath 15 minutes baith jao, toh aapko lagega ki yeh mera aadmi hai aur woh mere baare mein sochta hai (If you sit with him for just 15 minutes, you'll feel like he's your own person and that he genuinely cares about you)."

Health battle

Dharmendra's health struggles and final moments

Earlier in November, Dharmendra was hospitalized due to age-related issues. On November 11, reports of his death surfaced but were quickly dismissed by his family. He was later brought home for recovery. However, on Monday, November 24, the veteran actor passed away at his residence at the age of 89. His last rites were attended by family members and several Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda, Salman Khan, and Amitabh Bachchan, among others.
