23 students arrested after Delhi air pollution protest, police cite 'Naxal links'
India
A protest at India Gate over Delhi's worsening air quality ended with 23 mostly student protesters being arrested.
The group—mainly from Bhagat Singh Chhatra Ekta Manch (BSCEM) and Himkhand—organised the demonstration to raise concerns over pollution, but police claimed some had possible "Naxal links" based on their social media posts.
Police allege pepper spray use, bail opposed
Police say the protesters used pepper spray during the demonstration and have filed two FIRs for assault and obstructing duty.
Even after a court granted bail to eight protesters, they were re-arrested under fresh charges.
Right now, 21 remain in custody as investigations continue.
