Azam Khan cleared in Amar Singh family remarks case
India
Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has been acquitted by a Rampur court in a case about alleged derogatory comments he made against politician Amar Singh's family.
The court said there wasn't enough evidence to convict him, according to his lawyer.
This case dates back to 2018, when Singh filed an FIR after Khan's TV interview sparked controversy.
Political uproar and ongoing legal battles
Khan's remarks led to protests and heated debates, with a rally from Noida to Lucknow at the time. The case was eventually moved to Rampur for legal reasons.
Khan, who joined the hearing via video call and thanked the court for its decision, is currently facing over 100 cases—some have ended in convictions, others in acquittals.
He also repeated concerns about how he's being treated in prison.
