Bengaluru airport puts the brakes on new parking charges (for now)
Kempegowda International Airport was all set to roll out new overstay fees for vehicles, but thanks to a wave of flight delays and cancelations caused by the Indigo crisis, those plans are on pause.
The charges—meant for cars staying more than eight minutes in pickup/drop-off zones—were supposed to kick in from Monday, but BIAL has decided to hold off until things settle down.
What were these charges about?
BIAL's plan was to charge ₹150 if your car stayed between 8-13 minutes and ₹300 for up to 18 minutes, with the risk of being towed if you really pushed your luck.
But after more than 120 flights got canceled in a single day, airport officials figured now isn't the best time to add extra stress for travelers.
They'll announce a new start date once flights are back on track.
