Chennai is gearing up for Cyclone Ditwah, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected to hit soon.
The IMD has put out an orange alert for the city and a red alert for nearby districts like Chengalpattu.
Officials are urging everyone to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from the coast until December 4.

As of November 28, Ditwah was about 450km south of Chennai, moving slowly along Sri Lanka's coast.
The cyclone is set to get stronger over the Bay of Bengal and could reach north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry by November 30.
