Cyclone Ditwah disrupts life in Chennai: Flights, classes canceled

India

Cyclone Ditwah is shaking things up in Chennai as it heads toward the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast.
With 54 flights canceled and ATR services paused at Chennai Airport because of strong winds, travel plans are on hold for many.
Schools and colleges are closed across several districts, and heavy rain is making things even tougher.

Travel delays and exam reschedules hit students hard

Flight cancelations have left routes to cities like Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, and Thoothukudi suspended—IndiGo alone dropped 36 ATR flights.
Train service to Rameswaram also took a hit, with some trains canceled or diverted due to rough weather.
On top of that, Pondicherry Central University postponed all Friday exams as authorities keep a close eye on the situation.
