Delhi drafts cold wave action plan for 2025-26

Delhi has drafted its Cold Wave Action Plan 2025-26 after the IMD warned that temperatures could fall below 10°C at times from November through January.
With La Nina in play, cold waves are expected to hit harder and more often this year, raising risks like hypothermia, frostbite, and breathing issues.

Key features of the plan

The plan means earlier weather alerts, mapped-out hotspots for quick help, and hospital beds set aside for cold-related illnesses.
There's extra focus on protecting vulnerable groups—think more night shelters, better health services, and even care for stray animals.
