Delhi nursery admissions 2025-26: What you need to know
Delhi's Directorate of Education just dropped the details for nursery, KG, and Class 1 admissions for the 2026-27 school year.
Applications open December 4, with the first selection list out January 23.
Kids need to be between 3-4 years for nursery, 4-5 for KG, and 5-6 for Class I as of March 31, 2026.
How schools pick students
Most private schools give top points if you live nearby—some offer up to 80 points if you're within just two kilometers.
Having a sibling in the school or being related to alumni or staff can also boost your chances by another 10-20 points.
So yeah, where you live and family connections really matter.
Rules to keep things fair
Schools have to publish their admission rules by November 28 and wrap up applications by December 27.
The whole process is capped at a ₹25 registration fee—no sneaky extra charges allowed—and all lottery draws must be video recorded with parents watching.
Plus, everything has to follow disability rights laws and will be closely monitored for fairness.
