Gujarat Floods
The Indian state of Gujarat suffered severe flooding in 2017 due to heavy rains. As a result of the flood, 224 people died in Gujarat and 16 other died in the neighbouring state, Rajasthan. The rainfall started on 1 July and by 28th July, Gujarat received 559.4 mm of rainfall, which was exceeding the average rainfall by 65%. More than 1,30,000 people were evacuated.
