Gujarat's air turns "very poor" as temps climb higher than usual

India

On Friday, Gujarat experienced a decline in air quality—Raikhad's AQI hit 308 ("very poor"), while Gyaspur and Bopal (ISRO) weren't far behind.
At the same time, minimum temperatures in Ahmedabad soared to 21.1°C, which is six degrees above normal for this time of year.

Why is this happening—and will it get better?

The IMD says easterly and southeasterly winds are bringing in extra warmth and moisture, pushing up temperatures.
Contributing factors include heavy traffic and ongoing construction work.
Local authorities are keeping an eye on things, rolling out awareness drives and control steps.
The good news: cooler northeasterly winds are expected soon, which should help bring down the heat a bit.
