Ryan administration tried to cover up murder, police claim

The case at Gurugram's Ryan International is getting murkier. After action against several top officials, police have told a court that school authorities tried to cover up the murder of seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur. They allegedly wiped off blood from the floor and walls. Regional head Francis Thomas has also been booked with the death of a boy at Ryan, Vasant Kunj, in January'16.

Gurugram: 7-year-old boy found murdered in Ryan International School

In a shocking incident, a seven-year-old student of Ryan International School at Gurugram's Sohna Road was found dead with his throat slashed in the toilet. At 8AM, another student saw the body and alerted the school authorities. Police are investigating the murder that appears to be premeditated. The boy's parents are in a state of shock.

Gurugram: Bus conductor allegedly molested, murdered seven-year-old student

A bus conductor at Ryan's International School, Ashok Kumar, was arrested for the murder of a Class II student. A driver and a staff member were detained. Kumar confessed he was masturbating inside the washroom when the victim walked in. Cops suspect he molested the boy: semen was found on his uniform. A special committee is probing the case.

Gurugram schoolboy murder: Angry protesters set ablaze liquor-shop near school

Expressing dissatisfaction over Gurugram Police's investigation into the killing of Class-II student Pradyuman Thakur inside Ryan International School at Sohna Road, angry parents and locals demanded a CBI probe into the murder. The protest outside the school premises turned violent when protesters torched a nearby liquor shop, demanding action against the Ryan management. The cops lathi-charged on the agitated protesters to disperse them.

Victim's parents, unsatisfied with probe, demand CBI investigation

Pradyuman's mother said they aren't satisfied with the ongoing investigation, adding the school's management must take responsibility for students' safety. His father Varun demanded a CBI probe, alleging the investigation was "being influenced by someone who does not want the truth to come out". Following the protests and outrage among parents, the CBSE has constituted a two-member fact-finding committee to examine the matter.

SIT flags several concerns with Ryan, school temporarily shut

An SIT has highlighted several irregularities in Gurgaon's Ryan International School: inadequate installation of CCTVs, no separate toilets for non-teaching staff, unsafe toilets, broken boundary walls, expired fire extinguishers, and no police verification of employees. The school has to reply to a notice within 15 days. It has been declared shut today and tomorrow. Security has also been stepped up.

These top officials have been suspended or arrested

After the murder, acting principal Neerja Batra was suspended. Ryan's regional head Francis Thomas and HR head Jayesh Thomas have been arrested and are being questioned. Meanwhile, CEO Ryan Pinto and his parents Grace and Augustine (founders) have applied for transit anticipatory bail.
