IndiGo flight chaos sends Agartala fares soaring

India

IndiGo's recent meltdown—over 2,100 flights canceled nationwide—has hit Agartala travelers hard.
With nine out of 11 flights scrapped at MBB Airport on Sunday, ticket prices for Agartala-Kolkata jumped from ₹3,200 last week to a jaw-dropping ₹11,000-₹13,000.
Not fun if you're trying to get home or back to campus.

What's next for flyers?

According to the MBB Airport Director, flight operations of IndiGo are likely to be restored from Monday.
While big airports like Delhi and Mumbai saw major delays (some days had less than 10% on-time departures), other airlines such as Akasa and Air India Express were still operating flights from Agartala as scheduled.

Government steps in

To help frustrated travelers, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has ordered full refunds for all canceled flights by December 7 and put caps on ticket prices.
They've also asked railways to run special trains so people have extra options while this mess gets sorted out.
