IndiGo scrambles to fix flight chaos with crisis team
IndiGo just set up a special Crisis Management Group after one of the worst network-wide disruptions in its history, thanks to crew shortages and airport congestion.
The group—including top leaders like chairman Vikram Singh Mehta and CEO Pieter Elbers—is meeting regularly to get things back on track.
Flights slowly bouncing back
Since early December, over 2,100 flights have been canceled during India's busiest travel season.
But there's some progress: on December 7, IndiGo managed about 1,650 flights (up from 1,500 the day before), and their on-time performance jumped from a rough 30% to a much better 75%.
Passengers are getting earlier notifications about cancelations and refunds are being processed more smoothly.
Hoping for normal by December 10
IndiGo says they're aiming to stabilize operations by December 10—sooner than first expected.
They've apologized for the mess and are urging travelers to double-check their flight status before heading out.
The airline is working through refund requests as quickly as possible while sorting out crew and scheduling headaches.
