IndiGo's flight chaos: DGCA calls out airline bosses, passengers stranded
India
IndiGo faced a major meltdown in early December, leaving thousands stuck at airports in cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi.
The aviation regulator DGCA wasn't happy—show-cause notices went straight to IndiGo's CEO and COO for significant lapses in planning, oversight, and resource management, particularly in relation to new pilot work rules and resource shortages.
What's being done: Refunds, support—and even special trains
To help frustrated travelers, the government has told IndiGo to finish all pending refunds by December 7 and drop rescheduling fees.
The airline also needs to step up passenger support and return lost baggage within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, Indian Railways is pitching in with 89 special trains so stranded flyers can finally get moving again.
