Army urged a defiant Dujana to surrender right before encounter
Tapes have surfaced containing a conversation between an army officer and slain LeT terrorist Abu Dujana right before he was killed in an encounter. The officer is heard urging him to surrender while reminding him of his wife and parents. He tells him Pakistani agencies are using him. A defiant Dujana says he left his parents in Gilgit-Baltistan. "I had left home for martyrdom."
J&K: Top LeT commander Abu Dujana killed in encounter
Top Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Abu Dujana aka Hafiz was killed in an encounter in Hakripora village of J&K's Pulwama district on 1st August. LeT terrorist Arif Lilhaari who was with him was also reportedly neutralized. The fate of another couple of terrorists in the group is not yet known. Afterwards, clashes broke out between locals and police near the encounter site. Fifteen people were injured.
Dujana's name was on a 'hit list' of terrorists
Dujana, hailing from Pakistan, was LeT's 'divisional commander'. Till now, he has been almost nabbed five times, but had close escapes. His name was on a hit list that includes terrorists from LeT, JeM and Hizbul Mujahideen. Based on this list, operation "hunt-down" has been launched. 102 terrorists have been killed by J&K Police this year, the highest during January-July in seven years.
