Karnataka offers 50% off on old traffic fines—here's how to grab it

Karnataka is offering a big 50% discount on unpaid traffic fines issued by the transport department between 1991-92 and 2019-20, but only until December 12, 2025.
This covers all pending e-challans, no matter how old they are, though you'll still need to pay any vehicle tax dues in full.

Who gets the discount and how do you pay?

If you have old RTO penalties or outstanding e-challans for things like overloading, permit issues, or registration lapses, you're eligible.
You can clear your e-challan dues at traffic stations, Bengaluru One centers, the Traffic Management Centre on Infantry Road, or through the ASTraM app, while RTO penalties must be settled at RTO offices.
Just a heads-up: there are still crores of cases pending—so now's a good time to settle up!
