Kerala's voter list clean-up: 7.6 lakh names flagged
India
Kerala's big voter list clean-up has found over 7.6 lakh entries flagged as untraceable, dead, shifted, or duplicated—think names of people who've passed away, moved out, or are listed twice.
For the first time since 2002, local officers have been going door-to-door to double-check who actually lives where.
Why should you care?
Getting rid of fake and outdated names means a more accurate voter roll for the 2026 elections—so your vote really counts.
Almost all forms have already reached voters, and over 70% of returned forms have been digitized.
The updated draft will drop on December 9, and if you're missing from the list but still eligible, there's still time to get added before nominations close.
