Major fire hits Ahmedabad complex, but everyone's safe
A big fire broke out at Vrajeshwari complex near Viratnagar crossroads in Ahmedabad on Tuesday morning, destroying 12 shops and damaging four workshops.
Fueled by large amounts of motor oil and grease, the fire was reported around 10am but thankfully no one was hurt.
Firefighters from AFES responded quickly to contain the situation.
Quick response kept things under control
It took 16 fire vehicles and 60 firefighters to bring the flames under control by 12:30pm.
The fire even reached cotton workshops upstairs, causing traffic jams nearby.
Chief Fire Officer Amit Dongre said an investigation is underway to figure out what sparked it—possibly auto-ignition or an electrical fault—as the workshop was closed at the time.
Fire crews used massive amounts of water and foam to douse the blaze.
