Mumbai's getting smarter about air pollution with MANAS

India

Mumbai is teaming up with IIT Kanpur to launch MANAS, a new air quality monitoring network, after the city recently saw its Air Quality Index hit 125.
The system promises better tracking of pollution and should be up and running in six months.

Real-time, hyperlocal data (and it's cost-effective)

MANAS will use 75 sensors to track air quality in much smaller areas—down to half a square kilometer—so you'll know what the air's like right where you are.
With AI helping spot pollution sources and suggest fixes, plus the sensors being cost-effective, Mumbai aims for smarter decisions for cleaner air.
