    PM Modi to put Amaravati Foundation stone

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lay the foundation stone of Andhra Pradesh's new capital Amaravati on October 22.

    The state government has organized a mega event which would be attended by 4-5 lakh people.

    The PM would spend 90 minutes at the event .

    PM would be shown a presentation on the 'past, present and future' of Amaravati, a historically significant place.

  • Andhra CM Naidu had said the new capital region would be developed between Vijayawada & Guntur and would be called Amaravati.

    The masterplan for the new capital was made by experts from Singapore.

    However, Naidu was facing financial problems as Rs.20,000 crore was needed to build the city but the Centre had only sanctioned Rs. 1500 crore for the project till then.

  • Chief Minister Naidu had invited Singapore PM Lee Hsein Loong for the AP capital city Amaravati's foundation stone laying ceremony on October 22.

    Singapore Government had prepared the Master Plans for the three-layered administrative headquarters of Andhra Pradesh - the seed capital, capital city and the capital region.

    PM Loong had responded positively saying he would try his best to attend the ceremony.

  • Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao had visited the British museum and said that about 30 to 40 artifacts that were mined from Amaravati are on the display at the Museum.

    He had said that the state would government would take up the matter with the Central government to bring back the famed artifacts.

    The artifacts were shipped to London during British rule.

  • CM Naidu had launched the website 'My Brick, My Amaravati' and urged citizens to buy "e-bricks" at Rs.10 each for new capital Amaravati.

    24 hours after the launch of the website, almost four lakh e-bricks were bought.

    According to him, farmers had "voluntarily" parted with 33,000 acres of land for the new capital.

    Activists and rival parties had accused him of forcing farmers.

  • Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu said he wanted to make Amaravati, the new city, as a "people's capital".

    Thousands of decorated pots carrying soil and water were brought to Guntur district from different parts of the state.

    Naveen Reddy, a NRI, had brought soil and water from the United States.

    Endowments commissioner Anuradha explained that all the material was about 16 tonnes in weight.

    He added that it is going to be the focal point of the development and progress of Andhra Pradesh.

    He congratulated Andhra-CM Naidu for the fast pace of progress of construction of the city.
