Punjab just saw its worst day this season for stubble burning, with 442 new cases reported on Saturday.
That brings the state's total to 2,084—over half of all such fires across India.

Sangrur district stood out with over 100 fires in one day, making it the first to hit triple digits this season.
Tarn Taran leads overall with 423 cases, and Sangrur isn't far behind at 389.
