Singer Harshita Dahiya's brother-in-law confesses to her murder
Three days after the crime, the brother-in-law of murdered Haryanvi singer Harshita Dahiya, Dinesh Mathur, has confessed that he was behind the killing. Mathur, who is in Tihar jail for raping Dahiya and killing her mother, was the prime suspect. He had been accused by his former wife Lata, Dahiya's sister. He has now been sent to four-day police custody for Dahiya's murder.
Popular Haryanvi Ragini singer Harshita Dahiya was shot dead in Panipat by unidentified gunmen. The incident happened when the 22-year-old was returning from a function in Chamrara to her home in Delhi's Narela yesterday afternoon. Her car was intercepted by the assailants, the occupants forced out and Dahiya shot six times in the forehead and neck. It is suspected to be a case of personal enmity.
Police said there were four people in the car including Harshita and the driver. The gunmen asked the other three to get down. They fired at her in the car seven times; six bullets hit her. She died on the spot. None of the others was harmed. Reports say the singer had been getting life threats. A case of murder has been lodged.
A day after singer Harshita Dahiya's murder, police have confirmed some details: contract killers fired eight bullets; one hit her chest, the rest her head and neck. Dahiya's sister has accused her former husband Dinesh Mathur. She had been receiving death threats and had threatened on Facebook she would reveal her enemies. People would be shocked to know two people involved, she had said.
