St. Xavier's College probes guest speaker after sexual harassment claims
At least 10 students at Mumbai's St. Xavier's College have accused a guest speaker of sexual harassment earlier this week, saying he took unsolicited photos and made unwanted physical contact by brushing past them.
The college immediately removed the speaker from campus and notified his parent university.
How the college is responding
St. Xavier's Internal Complaints Committee is now investigating, with Principal Karuna Gokarn reaffirming their zero-tolerance stance: the institution will fully cooperate with the police.
Students filed a written complaint on November 28, and the findings will be shared with the speaker's university.
Moving forward, St. Xavier's will run stricter background checks on all guest speakers to help keep students safe and prevent future incidents.
