Supreme Court to hear plea for including CAA applicants in voter list

The Supreme Court is set to hear a case on December 9 that could impact thousands of people waiting for Indian citizenship under the CAA.
NGO Aatmadeep wants those who fled persecution from neighboring countries and have applied for citizenship to be added to India's voter list—even while their applications are still pending.

Why this matters

Aatmadeep says using official acknowledgment receipts as temporary proof would help about 50,000 people avoid being left stateless or unable to vote just because of delays in paperwork.
The move aims to protect minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan who came before 2015, making sure they aren't stuck in limbo while waiting for their new status.
