One day after 80 members of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) were suspended by TN assembly speaker P Dhanapal, they staged a sit-in protest outside the assembly.
The protest occurred because the MLAs were rejected entry into the Assembly premises.
"We have only been suspended, but we are MLAs. We don't know why they are not letting us inside", said one MLA.

89 DMK MLAs suspended from Tamil Nadu Assembly
-
Leader MK Stalin and 89 MLAs of his Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party were dismissed from the Tamil Nadu Assembly on 17th August, 2016.
They were suspended for a week for allegedly creating ruckus in the House.
A ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) member, apparently mocked Stalin, which led to chaos and violence in the Tamil Nadu assembly.

Unfolding of Events
-
Disturbances in the house ensued when AIADMK member S Gunasekaran passed comments about a 'Nammakku Naame' programme, an event which Stalin was highly involved with.
This led to the DMK MLAs requesting Speaker P Dhanapal to expunge those remarks.
Refusing to do the same, Dhanapal said that no one in particular had been named by Gunasekaran.
This led to pandemonium in the House.
