Kamal Haasan finally confirms political plans!
After widespread speculations about Kamal Haasan joining politics, the superstar has finally given a clear indication: if polls are held in Tamil Nadu within 100 days, he said, "I'll be there". He is also uninterested in joining other parties: "I'll go alone." He also confirmed he met Rajinikanth recently. "Both of us have a common target: corruption." But denied they would fight together.
Kejriwal to meet Kamal Haasan: A new alliance in making?
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal recently met superstar Kamal Haasan in Chennai. Kejriwal is expected to invite Haasan to join his party, AAP. This comes days after the actor alluded to entering politics by launching his own political party. As of now, we know that Haasan wouldn't join the BJP or the AIADMK. But would he join AAP? That remains to be seen.
Including Haasan a golden chance for AAP to save face
The ever-growing infighting, name calling and minister sacking within the party, and its major electoral losses have led to dissent and disillusionment among AAP supporters. The inclusion of a popular face like Kamal Haasan, a man with a clean image and incredible goodwill, will immensely boost AAP's fractured confidence and public opinion. It can also give AAP a direct political ticket in Tamil Nadu.
Why should Kamal Haasan join AAP?
Haasan's "color is definitely not saffron," as he has said previously, and he's been critical of the AIADMK. Since he wants to be at "the centre of things," joining the party governing the national capital looks like a great start. Now that AAP is falling apart, Haasan can play messiah by being the face that the party desperately needs and hasn't found yet.
Haasan not the only superstar to join politics
Haasan isn't the only South Indian superstar wanting to make a political debut. Speculations are rife that Rajinikanth too will soon enter politics. BJP leaders Gadkari and Amit Shah have invited him to join them. Surprisingly, Haasan said that he'd work with Rajinikanth, should he join politics. Hindu Makkal Katchi party founder Arjun Sampath had confirmed Rajinikanth's entry after he met him in June.
Kejriwal and Haasan have met previously in 2015
This won't be the first time that the two men would be meeting each other. Haasan had previously called on Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat two years ago. They had then talked about promoting cinema and how to relax the film shooting process in NCR.
