What's the story
Pushpam Priya Choudhary, the leader of the Plurals Party, is trailing by a huge margin in the Darbhanga seat as vote counting for the 2025 Bihar elections continues. The seat was won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjay Saraogi in 2020. The Election Commission website shows Saraogi is leading Priya by over 26,000 votes and Umesh Sahani of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) by over 4,800 votes.

The Plurals Party is contesting all 243 seats in Bihar under the 'whistle' symbol. Choudhary had earlier vowed to wear a mask until she wins an election. Choudhary is the daughter of former Janata Dal (United) lawmaker Vinod Kumar Choudhary. Her grandfather, Professor Umakant Choudhary, was a close aide of CM Nitish Kumar and one of the founding members of the Samata Party. Her uncle, Vinay Kumar Choudhary, is a JD(U) leader who won from Benipur in 2020 assembly elections.

Education and career
Choudhary is an emerging young leader with master's degrees from the University of Sussex and the London School of Economics. She started her career as a consultant in Bihar's tourism and health departments before entering politics. In 2020, her party had contested 148 seats but failed to win any seat.
