FIR against Sandeep Dikshit for 'sadak ka gunda' comment

An FIR has been lodged against Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit for his comments in which he asked Army Chief General Bipin Rawat not to speak like a 'sadak ka gunda'. He made the statement after Gen Rawat said India is ready for a "two and a half front war" while talking about Pakistan. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had condemned the statements. Dikshit had apologized.

Apology demanded from Sonia Gandhi after 'sadak ka gunda' comment

The Congress has landed itself in a controversy. After Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said India is ready for a "two and a half front war", party leader Sandeep Dikshit said he shouldn't talk like a "sadak ka gunda" (street thug). Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has demanded an apology from party chief Sonia Gandhi, terming it "a plot to undermine the role of Army".

    What did Dikshit say?

"Ours is not a mafia army like Pakistani army which makes statements like thugs on the streets do. It looks bad when our Army chief gives a statement like (he is) a 'sadak ka gunda'," said the son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit. He later apologized. "I believe what I said was wrong. I apologize for it and withdraw my statement," he said.

BJP leaders hit back at Dikshit, demand Sonia Gandhi's apology

"The attitude of the Congress is shocking. They have questioned Army's integrity," said Sitharaman. BJP leader Sambit Patra joined in: "First, it was Rahul Gandhi who spoke of 'khoon ki dalali'. Following him was Sanjay Nirupam, who demanded proof post the surgical strike. The latest to join this bandwagon is Sandeep Dikshit, with his hurtful statement. Sonia Gandhi should expel such leaders and apologize."
