Who's Amar Subramanya?

Before joining Apple, Subramanya led AI at Microsoft.
Now he'll report to Craig Federighi and head up foundation models and AI research at Apple—basically shaping how future Apple devices get smarter.

Who's he replacing?

John Giannandrea has been leading Apple's AI since 2018, including the launch of "Apple Intelligence" in June 2024.
He'll be around for a smooth handover before retiring next year, marking another big step in Apple's push to get ahead in the fast-moving world of tech.
