ChatGPT can now join group chats: How to use it

Technology

OpenAI just rolled out group chats in ChatGPT, letting up to 20 people chat together with AI.
Recently launched, the feature is live in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan for now—with plans to reach more places soon.

You can set the AI's role in the chat

In these chats, you can set how the AI acts—like making it your coding buddy or a debate referee.
You get to pick if it jumps in automatically or only when tagged.
Plus, you can share files, react with emojis, generate images, and even search the web right inside the chat.

Use it for brainstorming, planning, or even book discussions

Group chats are built to help teams stay on track by summarizing convos and cutting down on repetitive stuff.
But it's not just for work—you can use it for brainstorming ideas, planning trips with friends, running book clubs or creative writing sessions.
The AI even gives tips based on what everyone's talking about.
