Rafael Nadal reaches Australian Open finals
World number nine Rafael Nadal reached the finals of the 2017 Australian Open after defeating Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov in a five-setter semi-finals match. The Spaniard won the match 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(7-5), 6-7(4-7), 6-4 in 4 hours and 56 minutes. Nadal has reached the finals of Australian Open fourth time in his career. He was the winner in 2009.
Australian Open: Sania Mirza reaches finals of mixed doubles
Second seeded Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig marched into the finals of mixed doubles at the 2017 Australian Open. They defeated the Australian pair of Samantha Stosur and Sam Groth 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 in a super tie break match which lasted one hour and 18 minutes. It will be fifth Australian Open final for Sania Mirza.
Sania eyeing her 7th Grand Slam
Sania Mirza will be looking forward to her seventh grand slam title as she plays the mixed doubles final. She has two Australian Open titles, two US Open and one each of Wimbledon and French Open in doubles category.
Safarova, Mattek-Sands clinch the women's doubles trophy
Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova were crowned the women's doubles champions at the Australian Open after their win in the finals. The American-Czech pair defeated the 12th seeded Czech-Chinese pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Shuai Peng 6-7(4-7), 6-3, 6-3 in 2 hours and 14 minutes. It was the second Australian Open title and fourth Grand Slam title for the duo.
Its Federer vs Nadal in the finals
Nadal will face long time rival Roger Federer in the finals of the Australian Open on Sunday. The two had last time met in the finals of a Grand Slam in 2011 French Open, where Nadal emerged as the winner.
