England all-rounder Ben Stokes became the most expensive overseas players in the history of Indian Premier League after he was sold for Rs. 14.5 crore from a base price of Rs. 2 crore. He also became the second highest buy ever in IPL. He was bought by Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). RPS now have Rs 3 crore remaining for the remaining auction.
The 2017 IPL Auction
The players auction for 2017 Indian Premier League happened at Bangalore with 359 players under the hammer. A maximum of 78 players can be picked up by the teams; the maximum number of players a team can have is 27. This will be the last auction of the 10-year cycle, after which all the players will be up for grabs next year.

The 2017 Indian Premier League players auction came to an end with 66 players, including 27 overseas players, being bought by the eight franchises. The auction saw a few surprise picks by the teams, with Indian uncapped players earning a good moolah. England captain Eoin Morgan was the first buy of the day. He was bought for his base price of Rs. 2 crore by Kings XI Punjab.
RCB buys Tymal Mills for Rs. 12 crore
Talented English pacer Tymal Mills was the second big buy of the IPL bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 12 crore. His base price was Rs. 50 lakh. RCB also bought last year's highest buy Pawan Negi for Rs .1 crore. With a base price of Rs. 10 lakh, uncapped pacer Aniket Choudhary was bought by RCB for Rs. 2 crore.
History created: SRH bag first Afghani player of the IPL
Sunrisers Hyderabad created history by bagging the first cricketer from Afghanistan in the Indian Premier League. They bought Rashid Khan for a whopping Rs. 4 crore; his base price was Rs. 50 lakh. The Hyderabad based team bought another Afghani player, Mohammad Nabi, for Rs. 30 lakh. They also bagged leg-spinner Pravin Tambe for his base price of Rs. 10 lakh.
Top Indian bowlers go unsold at auction
Indian pacer Ishant Sharma, who had a base price of Rs. 2 crore, went unsold at the players auction of 2017 Vivo IPL. Along with him, Irfan Pathan (Rs. 50 lakh) and RP Singh (Rs. 30 lakh) also remained unsold.
Chris Woakes goes to Kolkata Knight Riders
Shah Rukh Khan owned team Kolkata Knight Riders bought England all-rounder Chris Woakes for Rs. 4.2 crore. His base was price was listed at Rs. 2 crore. KKR also bought New Zealand bowler Trent Boult for a price of Rs. 5 crore, with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. They bought all-rounder Rishi Dhawan for Rs. 55 lakh.
Delhi Daredevils make big purchases at IPL auction
Delhi Daredevils made quite a few purchases at the 2017 IPL players auction at Bengaluru. They bought South Africa's Kagiso Rabada for Rs. 5 crore. His base price was Rs. 1 crore. Another big purchase for them was Pat Cummins, bought for Rs. 4.5 crore, whose base price was Rs. 2 crore. They also got Angelo Mathews (Rs. 2crore) and Corey Anderson (Rs. 1crore).
Uncapped Indian players go for high prices
Uncapped Indian players were few of the expensive players bought at the auction. Tamil Nadu bowler T Natarajan was bought for Rs. 3 crore by Kings XI Punjab. For a price of Rs. 2 crore each, Aniket Choudhary and K Gowtham went to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians respectively. Murugan Ashwin was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 1 crore.
Mumbai Indians make some good purchases at IPL auction
Mumbai Indians bought back Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson in their team for his base price of Rs. 2 crore. Their costliest buy at the auction was Karn Sharma, who was bought for Rs. 3.2 crore. His base price is Rs. 30 lakh. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team also bought Saurabh Tiwary, Nicholas Pooran and A Gunaratne for Rs. 30 lakh each.
Gujarat Lions make thoughtful purchases
The top pick for Gujarat Lions was England opener Jason Roy, bought for his base price of Rs. 1 crore. They also bought uncapped Indian bowler Basil Thampy for Rs. 85 lakh, Manpreet Gony for Rs. 60 lakh and Munaf Patel for Rs. 30 lakh. At the end of the auction, they had 26 players in the team, with Rs. 10.60 crore remaining.
Gujarat buys UAE player
Gujarat bought United Arab Emirates batsman Chirag Suri for his base price of Rs. 10 lakh.
Harpreet left clueless after poor reporting
