PWL: Punjab Royals deny Delhi Sultans their first victory
Delhi Sultans suffered yet another loss at the 2017 Pro Wrestling League even after their star player Sakshi Malik won her bout. Punjab Royals registered a 5-2 victory but lost to Thorgul Asgarov due to an injury and won't be a part of rest of the season. The Royals are now on the third place in the points table after three matches.
Pro Wrestling League
The Pro Wrestling League is a professional wrestling league of India. It was played first in the year 2015. Six teams from different Indian cities compete against each other in a tie which has seven bouts. The top four teams then advance to the semi-final stage of the tournament. Revanta Mumbai Garuda was the winning team of the 2015 edition.
2017 Pro Wrestling League starts from 2 January
The second season of Pro Wrestling League would take place from 2 January 2017 at Delhi's K.D. Jadhav Indoor Stadium. The finals will be played on 19 January. Six teams - Delhi Sultans, Mumbai Maharathi, Haryana Hammers, UP Dangal, Jaipur Ninjas and NCR Punjab Royals would participate in the tournament. The 2017 PWL would have 15 ties followed by semi-finals and finals.
Results till now
Haryana Hammers have won both the matches at the tournament, defeating Mumbai Maharathi first and then UP Dangal. Jaipur Ninjas defeated NCR Punjab Royals in their bout on Tuesday.
NCR Punjab Royals register first win at Pro Wrestling League
The NCR Punjab Royals defeated Mumbai Maharathi 4-3 in the 2017 Pro Wrestling League at K.D. Jadhav Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. The Royals won four of the three bouts to register their first win at the tournament. They had earlier lost to Jaipur Ninjas on Tuesday. With two points from the win, Royals are placed third on the points table.
Today's tie
Colors Delhi Sultans will play their first match of the tournament against Jaipur Ninjas, who will be playing their second match. The Ninjas have earlier defeated NCR Punjab Royals 5-2.
Pro-Wrestling League: Jaipur Ninjas win second match
New entrants Jaipur Ninjas registered their second win at the 2017 Pro Wrestling League defeating Delhi Sultans 4-3 in Delhi. Jaipur had a easy win as they rode on the brilliant performance by the Georgian duo of Elizbar Odikadze and Jakob Makarashvili and Olympic medallist Jenny Fransson. They had a 4-1 lead after five of the seven bouts.
'Dangal' sisters out of PWL due to injury
Geeta and Babita Phogat, who are part of the PWL franchisee UP Dangal, will reportedly be out for the rest of tournament. While Geeta is suffering from high fever, Babita has been put out due to an injury.
