Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger signed a one-year contract with the MLS (Major League Soccer) side Chicago Fire.
The American club will offer him a deal worth $4.5 million, making him one of the highest paid players in MLS.
The former German captain has struggled for game time at Manchester United this season after falling out of favour with manager Jose Mourinho.

Bastian Schweinsteiger who popularly goes by 'Basti' or 'Schweini' is a professional German football player. He plays in the midfield position.
Born in Kolbermoor, Germany, on 1 Aug 1984, Bastian began his career as Bayern Munich football club's youth team player in 1998.
He made his senior debut for Bayern in 2002, in a Champions League match against RC Lens.

He went on to play in the 2006 World Cup, where he cemented his place as a defensive midfielder.

Schweinsteiger won several club titles with FC Bayern Munich, including 8 Bundesliga titles.
2013 was a great year for the him when Bayern won the Champions League title. It was the first time any German club won a treble - Champions league (European title) , Bundesliga (domestic league), and German Cup in the same season.
Basti bagged 'German Player of the Year' for 2013.

Shweinsteiger's world cup win with Germany in 2014 was the best moment of his career.
He displayed his brilliance in all the matches he was part of.
This included the semi-final match against Brazil where the hosts were thrashed 7-1 .
Basti will be remembered for his inspired performance in keeping the Argentine attack at bay in the final, which Germany won 1-0.

Schweinsteiger announces retirement from international football

Bastian Schweinsteiger, the German national team's captain, announced retirement from the international football.
The 31-year old midfielder, with 120 international caps, took to Twitter to break the news.
He thanked his fans, and the German team and said that it was the "right time" and it was "sensible to finish now".
Shweinsteiger also regretted having lost the opportunity to win the Euro2016.
