Blair Marshal Tickner was born in Napier, New Zealand, in 1993. A right-arm medium pacer by trade, Tickner made his first-class debut for Central Districts against Auckland in 2015. Since then, he has represented Central Districts in the Plunket Shield, New Zealand's domestic first-class championship. He first came into the spotlight with his hat-trick for Central Districts against Wellington in the 2017-18 Plunket Shield. In the 2017-18 Super Smash, the domestic T20 competition in New Zealand, he became the leading wicket-taker. His wicket tally was an impressive 21 wickets in 11 matches in that tournament. His impressive performances in the domestic circuit later earned him an international call-up. In 2019, he was named in the New Zealand squad to face India in T20 Internationals. In his debut T20I match in February 2019 against India, he took the wicket of Rishabh Pant. Tickner is yet to play an ODI match, despite being called up for the series against India in 2020.
